NV Prep Charter School Lottery & Enrollment Policy

In accordance with Nevada law, any child who resides in Nevada can submit an application to attend a Nevada Charter School (NRS 388A.453(1)). NV Prep welcomes all students and does not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression ((NRS 388A.453(6)).

Enrollment for Returning Students
All students who are enrolled at NV Prep on the final day of school of the 2022-23 school year are guaranteed a seat to attend NV Prep for the 2023-24 school year. To assist the school with planning for the upcoming year and running an annual lottery, NV Prep asks all families to complete an intent to return form for each child by March 14, 2023. In cases where students enroll at NV prep after March 14, 2023, and remained enrolled through the end of the 2022-23 school year, they are guaranteed enrollment for the 2023-24 school year, and NV Prep asks the family to complete an enrollment for the 2023-24 school year, concurrent with 2022-23 enrollment.

New Student Application Window
For the 2023-24 school year, NV Prep will begin accepting applications on November 1, 2022. The application window to be considered for the lottery will remain open until March 14, 2023.

Any applications submitted after March 14, 2023 will not be considered for a lottery but will be processed as follows:
  • Students who apply to grade levels with open seats will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Students who apply to grade levels that are already full will be added to the ordered waitlist on a first-come, first-served basis.

Random, Public Lottery
For each grade level, if the number of applications submitted exceeds the number of seats available, students will be admitted through a random, public lottery hosted on NV Prep's campus on March 15, 2023. The order of the wait list will also be determined by results of the lottery.

Within three business days of the lottery, NV Prep will contact each family via email and text message blast, based on the contact info provided on the application form. Families do not need to attend the lottery event to be selected in the lottery.

How to Apply?
Applications are available from the school's homepage at nvprep.org, but families may also apply in-person on campus or request a paper application mailed to their home.

Weighted Lottery & Admission Priorities
There is no weighted lottery at NV Prep, but prioritized admission will be given to children of school employees and siblings of currently enrolled students. Children of employees and siblings of current students will not be placed on the waitlist, but will be admitted as soon as a seat becomes available. Siblings are defined as any children who share at least one biological legal or biological parent or guardian.
