8th Grade Science 110 Assignments

Hi all! For our last project of 8th grade science we are going to review some astronomy content by engaging in a group project. You will have TWO CHOICES to choose from. You only need to complete one of the projects. You may choose to do both and one will be extra credit!


Choice One: Write a Children's book about the Solar System. 
Independently or with a partner you will write an illustrate a book about the solar system.
The book can focus on one planet, a group of planets, the entire solar system, or the sun.

Choice Two: Plan a Mission to Mars 
Independently or with a group (no larger than 4 people) you will plan a mission to Mars and build a research center on Mars using Minecraft. 
The build will accompanied by a slideshow reflection of the mission.

Hi all!


I won't be on campus today! This means our lab will be moved to Monday. I don't want to skip the lab so today you will be working on the preparation for our final 8th grade science unit! Below are the instructions and links for the day. Please work independently and be ready with everything turned in before Monday. ANYTHING you do not finish today is lifework.


Checklist: 
1. Complete the Text with notes for Lesson 25: Observing Natural Selection in Action ALL SECTIONS (first link below)
2. Complete the Lesson Game for Lesson 22: Earth's History (second link below)


If you finish the assignments above use this priority list to decide what you should complete next:
Top Priority: Check that you've completed and turned in the Text with Notes for Lesson 22: Earth's History
Turn in any incomplete science assignments from TCI or your Engineering Lab Reflection on Google Classroom
Work on the extra credit assignment in Minecraft
Complete Khan or Reading Plus
Work on missing assignments for other classes
When you finish both of the assignments linked below, please turn in this assignment.

Write a multi-paragraph reflection about our lab. Be sure to use complete sentences. Paragraph one: explain what your group decided to build and why. Paragraph Two: explain what happened when you first tested your build. Paragraph three: share your results from your final build.

Please complete the slides before Monday, February 7th, 2022. The slides can be completed independently or with others. Make sure ALL parts of filled in for full credit. This will count as a classwork grade.

After completing the Online Microscope Lab Analysis Notes in class 2/1/2022, please complete the microscope lab independently.


Please go to the website linked below. It is a microscope simulation lab. 

First, select "Explore" at the bottom of the simulation window. On the counter next to the microscope, there is a slide box (it has a question mark on it). Please select 4 things to look at under the virtual microscope. Then answer the questions in the Google Form below.

For lessons 8-11 we have been working on Astronomy, focusing heavily on the Sun-Earth-Moon Model. For extra credit on our final exam for Unit 3 complete the following challenges in Minecraft Education Edition.

Please complete this tonight if you did not work on it in class today.

Use the link provided to access the wave simulation. Then answer the questions in the Google Form attached.

Please complete all problems on page one and choose 10 problems on page 2 to complete.

Complete the practice problems for speed, velocity and acceleration. Do the work on a piece of paper and you may use a calculator.
